Israeli propaganda is entirely constructed on easily debunked lies. But to fully understand the Zionist narrative from Palestine to Amsterdam, in which Israeli perpetrators claim to be victims, we must also understand that

(1) to someone who has only ever known impunity (exemption from punishment), accountability feels like persecution

(2) the stripping away of privilege feels like discrimination

(3) criticism of their racism feels like a racist attack on them

(4) holding them to the same standards as everyone else is an intolerable denial of their superiority, and

(5) facts, truth, law, human rights norms, and anything else that contradicts their political ideology feels like a personal threat.

This is how a racist political ideology morphs into a kind of mental illness-and a very dangerous one.

Because the Palestinians have a recognized right in international law to resist Israel’s occupation, apartheid & genocide, including through armed struggle, alliances, aid & support to them for this purpose are also lawful.
But, as Israel’s occupation, apartheid & genocide are unlawful, support to Israel in those endeavours by Western states is also unlawful, as affirmed by the ICJ in July.

I’m an Israeli, like those two (‘nice’) individuals [ □ comment: not nice at all!] ; all three of us grew up with a narrative that paints Gaza—just a few dozen kilometers from our home—not as a place of and for people but as a land of terror, tunnels & extremism, something hopeless to be caged and controlled.

I was born in 1987, the year Gaza began to be reduced to a ‘bad place’ with the First Intifada; I grew up immersed in a hegemonic narrative that says Gaza’s safety is gone; they are many, we are few; they represent death, we represent life; it’s not occupation, it’s protection,

before (and esp. after) Oct 7, words like ‘Gaza,’ ‘occupation’ & ‘human’ have been systematically Voldemort(ed) from public & media discourse; I was raised to devalue Palestinian lives; they brought their fate upon themselves and questioning this narrative was seen as a betrayal.

Today, I must betray this destructive narrative; the one that has led to endless bloodshed, turning countless lives – of those who never wanted to be occupiers or the occupied – into deaths; many of my friends, family & colleagues have died under this narrative; I’m sick of it.

I’m sick of calling dead people ‘collateral damage’; I’m sick of feeling ashamed for also mourning children in Gaza; I’m sick of always having to add ‘but Hamas’; I’m sick of manipulative leaders who fuel terror for political gain; sick of Netanyahu & collective gaslighting.

These two Israelis honestly believe that deleting Gaza would save the region; they’re the product of toxic forces working to perpetuate the narrative “He who comes to kill you, rise up and kill him first”; but who comes first & who rises first? I’m sick of this deadly question.

As an Israeli, you can (and must) betray the narrative; resist the voices sealing our children’s future in blood; how? fight for new leadership that transcends ‘sides’ and recognizes that both Israelis & Palestinians are worth living and here to stay—from the river to the sea.
