Remember that Qatar agreed to host the Hamas political office in Doha (and pay civil service salaries in Gaza before 2023) with the explicit support of Israel & the US. Not because Qatar openly supports Hamas but because everyone agreed that it was useful to have a space to talk.

This bombing of Hamas’s headquarters in Doha is yet another sign that the world has to recognize as the truth, (that) neither the United States nor Israel are interested in actually having a negotiated end to this war.

If we summarize what we’re looking at, days ago the President of the United States gave Hamas a proposal that was 100 words long. So while they’re deliberating this proposal from the United States president who said that he now wants to take the direct lead in negotiating an end of the war, you have Israel bombing the headquarters of the political leadership of Hamas targeting the very people who would be on the other side of the negotiating table. The United States gave its consent to the operation.

There’s a question of was the US directly involved with it? This isn’t an anomaly. This is an operating plan.

This is why they assassinated Ismail Haniyeh, the former political leader of Hamas and chief negotiator last year in Iran, while they were also negotiating a ceasefire agreement.

And it’s reminiscent of the dirty operation that Trump pulled when Israel and the United States launched their 12 days of sustained bombing of Iran. It was supposedly going to be a continuation of negotiations between the US and Iran and they use that as cover to attack Iran.

Now I’m not saying that the United States set this up as an intelligence operation, but because the United States’ track record is out in the open and because Trump’s recent track record is out in the open, there are serious questions that we have to ask about the extent of US involvement in this attack inside of the boundaries of a sovereign state Qatar[fn1] against the political leadership of an organization the US claims it wants to negotiate with.

We need to be very clear whether it was Joe Biden or Donald Trump, the point of the so-called ceasefire negotiations was never to lead to a resolution of dignity or justice for Palestinians.

For 76 years Palestinians have been subjected to a US-backed Israeli war of annihilation and the past two years have been a very intense, massively, murderously bloody microcosm of the past 76 years of history.

fn1 There are reports that also the UK was involved in this attack, by providing a tanker aeroplane for refuelling Israel bomber planes.

@iwasnevrhere_ Amit Segal’s remarks here are basically an unfiltered admission of how deep U.S.–Israeli operational alignment has gone under Trump, and it’s framed without a shred of diplomatic varnish.

He openly states that the U.S. bombing Iran came at Israel’s request, then runs down a wish list: annexation without limits, occupation of any desired part of Gaza, even “emigration” (i.e., population transfer/expulsion) as a live policy discussion.

It’s delivered as if these are normal, uncontested policy prerogatives for Israel, not acts that flagrantly breach international law.

Coming from Segal, whose own family history is tied to the Jewish Underground, a convicted terrorist network, this isn’t just analysis, it’s the normalization of settler-colonial maximalism under the cover of a pliant superpower patron.

He’s articulating what Israeli hardliners rarely say so explicitly in public: that U.S. power is an extension of Israeli strategy, right down to kinetic operations against third states like Iran.
