While giving the appearance of reporting, the public has been left in the dark. There’s a lot of good reporting on non-controversial topics and or celebrities close and habits. But when it comes to Israel, Palestine, or Ukraine or Syria or Iraq, Olivia, Afghanistan, Vietnam and so the republic is not told how it really is which is called the truth and the opposite of truth is still false and lies.

For the journalist, at least, (truth) exists in the form of reasonable, evidence-based conclusions. In a world where claims are constantly competing, a journalist’s job is back-breaking: it is to investigate and come to conclusions, rather than setting up constant debates – no matter who this angers and no matter how much work it takes.
Impartiality has failed if its key method is to constantly balance “both sides” of a story as equally true. A news outlet that refuses to come to conclusions becomes a vehicle in informational warfare, where bad faith actors flood social media with unfounded claims, creating a post-truth “fog”. Only robust evidence-based conclusions can cut through this.

When will the BBC conclude that Israel IS violating international law, and shape its coverage around that truth? As the old saying goes, the journalist’s job isn’t to report that it may or may not be raining. It’s to look outside and tell the public if it is.

In contrast to those “pleasing the violent occupier Isra-l” media reports, the UNHRC (Human Rights Council) report details 100s of case studies of the intentional destruction of critical infrastructure in the health sector, of sexual violence, starvation and the premeditated efforts to make life impossible for the Gazan Palestinian population, not the least for women and girls. (And their evil deeds in the occupied Westbank.)
